#Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary

Dear Friends of Tacugama
Another month went by and it went by quick. There are many news ot share with you together with the monthly report from the month of February. Yes… we know, maybe one day we will get there and manage to send it earlier 🙂

We are running an online auction to name Mus’s baby right now, in case you missed our previous email or you do not follow us on our social media (and you should because we share great content!!). Mus gave birth to a healthy boy in October and up until now he has no name. So if you want to have a chance of naming him, click here to make a bid (minimum of 5$) and leave your name on the comments. It hast to start with an ”M” and, if possible, rhyme with his mother’s: Mus. The highest bid will win (so far the 1st place made a bid of 250$), but there are also prizes for the second and third place. The campaign will close this afternoon at 17.00 SL time. Keep the names coming!!

Also, we want to extend an invitation to our followers. We are planning a range of activities for May for a week we have called ”Chimp week”, filled with activities related to conservation. environmental awareness and education, climate change mitigation, eco-tourism and a lot more. As part of the National Animal Campaign. One of the activities is the unveiling of a mural with a design that relates both to the protection of the chimpanzee and environmental conservation.

In order to make the CNAAPC more international, we appeal to artists all over the world to assist us in designing murals to be unveiled during Chimp Week (9-15 th May 2022)!

We therefore appeal to anyone who has a skill for design to come up with your own mural design thatwe can replicate here in Sierra Leone that promotes environmental conservation and chimpanzees! For more information please do not hesitate to reach out to us at conservation@tacugama.com.

We are also including a letter with the proposal as an attachment so you can share with your friends and family.

Now yes, you can read our monthly newsletter here or scroll down to check it below.

Thank you for all your support,

Tacugama, chimps & staff
Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary (TCS) is looking for artists to help collaborate towards its
newly launched Chimpanzee National Animal Awareness & Protection Campaign (CNAAPC)!
TCS is looking for sponsors, partners and collaborators to help boost the new CNAAPC campaign and
raise awareness for both environmental conservation and chimpanzee protection – two topics that have
great effects upon us all albeit unknown to so many. The CNAAPC is a multiyear campaign that will focus
more efforts on the Western Area Peninsula, Sierra Leone, during Year 1. The highlight of Year 1 will be
the celebratory ”Chimp Week” in May 2022, during which many events and workshops will take place.
In order to make the CNAAPC more international, we appeal to artists all over the world to assist us in
designing murals to be unveiled during Chimp Week (9-15 th May 2022)!
TCS is identifying key walls currently unused around the Peninsula, to brighten up and fix with a key
message. A message about environmental conservation, wildlife, forests, water, eco-tourism and the
status of the chimpanzee in Sierra Leone: the country’s national animal.
We therefore appeal to anyone who has a skill for design to come up with your own mural design that
we can replicate here in Sierra Leone that promotes environmental conservation and chimpanzees!
For more information please do not hesitate to reach out to us at conservation@tacugama.com.

TCS looks forward to collaborating with you,

Leave your mark and help us promote conservation and protect chimpanzees in Sierra Leone.
